THE NORFOLK HOTEL, Birmingham – A Smart Stay in the City

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were a good size and I even got a free upgrade to a big family room, which was fantastic. However, I noticed stains on the walls, a dirty carpet, cobwebs, and spiders in the ensuite. The bed clothes seemed very old and worn out. Despite the upgrade, I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

My stay at the hotel had its ups and downs. The rooms had a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke combined with a sickly deodorizer, but the second room was better, although still a bit grubby. The bathroom was locked and unpleasantly scented, which was a downside. The service seemed fine, though a little disengaged, and I encountered some challenges when requesting a refund. The location was convenient with easy access to the city center via bus. The dining experience was not great, with noisy guests and limited breakfast options. Overall, the hotel had its flaws but also some positive aspects in terms of location and service.

The hotel offers a single room that feels more like a single rather than a double, not ideal for health reasons, but the price is reasonable. The room itself was fantastic, comparable to well-known budget hotel chains. The service, despite some parking issues, was friendly, and the location was convenient with easy access to the city center and ample parking. The dining experience, although fair at best, offered a good choice of food. Overall, it's a decent option with a great price point.
